Sannu, my fellow Nigerians! I’m Gideon Adeleke and I’m so happy you’ve decided to visit my site. A bit about myself: I am an IT student at Hydatek Institute in Kano. I have often been asked about VPNs because most of my friends and family have no experience with them.
I started building this site so that I could share my knowledge of VPNs with my fellow Nigerians and the global community. It is my aim to give you an in-depth overview of the very best VPNs that are currently available in Nigeria.
As you may have heard, Nigeria lost $450 million dollars due to 3,500 cyber attacks. Our country has been called the highest risk country for cybercrime. Now is the time to strike back by protecting ourselves against online threats.
The VPNs on this list represent the best VPNs in Nigeria and, really, in the whole wide world. At the top of that list is ExpressVPN because they are committed to privacy and security. They offer five excellent ways to connect and they are at the top of the heap when it comes to raw speed.
So let’s get started!
Avoid Free VPNS - Don't Have Your Info Sold to 3rd PartiesI would strongly recommend not utilizing free VPNS servers for some simple reasons. User data is routed through a central hub that collects and aggregates information. This information is then sold to 3rd parties. User information is commoditized and sold to pay for the “free” VPN. If you’re not looking to spend money on a VPN, I would suggest simply not using one.
ExpressVPN—Fastest & Most Secure VPN Solution
Right off the bat, I have to give ExpressVPN extra props for their legendary customer service. As I’ve told my friends in the past, Express VPN’s 24/7 customer support staff are the nicest, most helpful customer service representatives I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with. They are able to help you with any set-up problems, any connectivity issues…pretty much anything you can throw at them.
But more importantly, ExpressVPN gives you dynamite speeds like no other VPN out there. You get a user-friendly interface and a 256-bit AES OpenVPN encryption that ensures you nobody will be able to gain access to your data.
Their 30-day money back guarantee tells you that they are willing to put their money where their mouth is. It’s just one of the ways that they prove themselves to be a trustworthy service.
I really can’t say enough about this VPN, that’s how great my experience has been with them. I’ve had an Express account for over a year now and I have no plans of switching any time soon.
Express utilize the latest servers to deliver unbeatable performance.
Most Secure Choice Available
Their firm “no log records” policy promises that user data will not be compromised.
Most Trusted VPN in the World
With more than 10 million users worldwide, ExpressVPN has risen to prominence as one of the largest VPN companies in the global marketplace.
3+ People on 1 Account
With a Premium account, you can permit multiple users to access your account on their devices.
Competitive pricing and free plans available.
Take a look at our scores below to get a sense of how we rate Express.
ExpressVPN is my go-to choice when it comes to VPNs because they’ve never let me down. They never block their users for downloading any kind of content and I’m able to use it for anything from watching NetFlix to working on a spreadsheet or using BitTorrent.
VyPr VPN—Best 2nd Choice for PCs and Android
If you decide to opt for a cheaper VPN than ExpressVPN, this is a solid option. No go fall my hand, right? No worries, my friend. This VPN is an awesome choice with competitive plans.
VyPr has the best prices on this list and their customer support provide prompt responses to technical concerns. It’s a sleek app with a good design and works as well on a Smartphone as it does on a laptop or desktop.
You can get a free 3-day trial or sign up for one of their plans. Either way, their signature Chameleon protocol will enable you to bypass restrictions and avoid undesirable malware sites by being automatically redirected via the DNS feature.
The VyPr VPN Cloud allows users to manage their own network. The lightning fast routing will take much of the headache out of your online projects. All of this with unlimited bandwidth and 5 simultaneous connections.
VyPr VPN provides reliable speeds across their 700 servers.
VyPr VPN is the greatest value on my list.
The monthly subscription plan is dirt cheap, but the product is not cheap at all. It’s a highly trusted resource that ensures that no third parties can gain access to your information or target you with malicious programs. A great second choice, to be sure.
Pure VPN—Good Runner-Up
As an ex-hacker, I’ve dedicated my adult life to teaching people the importance of safeguarding themselves against malicious attacks by people who abuse the Internet for their own questionable agendas.
Pure VPN was one of the first VPNs I ever tested and it still stands out in my mind as one of the best VPNs on the market. With no less than 80,000 IP addresses and 750 servers, they’re a behemoth in the realm of the best VPNs.
Set-up is fast and easy. You simply download their software directly from their site, right-click on the set-up file to open it, click Install, launch the VPN and click Finish. From there, you just punch in your username and password and you’re ready to roll.
You get to select the mode of your choice and start surfing with confidence. While Pure VPN isn’t the most affordable for long-term users, it’s a viable option for the average Joe who wants to view certain content with complete discretion on a one-time basis.
It’s one of the most customizable apps around and it’s a dependable platform that delivers split tunneling and total coverage. You will not have your log records sold off to some third party and no one will be able to see your actual IP address.
HideMyAss—Least Recommended VPN
I always tell people to avoid this one like the plague. It’s just not a worthy choice for anyone who is serious about protecting their identity or exploring diverse content. As one of my American friends is fond of saying, “HideMyAss lives up to its name in that it’s total shit and we all know where shit comes from.”
In all seriousness, though, HMA is a shady service run by people who are easily coerced into sharing their users’ personal data. On top of that, they have a reputation for disabling people’s accounts without giving their users a heads up beforehand.
My friend that I just mentioned opened an account earlier this year and told me that they deactivated his account after he attempted to download a Torrent and then never responded to his request for an explanation.
Although they have an enormous server network, HMA does not offer superior speeds and they clearly cannot be trusted. Their lack of loyalty to their customers has even made the news more than once, particularly in the case of a disgraced Texas judge whose log records were used by police to corroborate his girlfriend’s claims of harassment.
The only pro with HMA is that they allow P2P Torrenting, but other than that, there isn’t much to recommend them in any way, shape or form. On the contrary, most people who know anything about VPNs consider their service to be total garbage. I strongly suggest that you avoid them if you can afford the better VPNs I mentioned above.
What is a VPN?
If you don’t already know, a VPN is a Virtual Private Network, a service that enables users to connect to the Internet by way of a server that is run by the VPN provider. The information that is transmitted betwixt your computer and the VPN server is encrypted so that you obtain privacy and security.
Why Do I Need a VPN?
The real question should be, “Why don’t you need a VPN?” In the modern age, private citizens are hardly private anymore. The people at Facebook and Apple have seen to that. We are constantly being targeted by social media, technology firms, government agencies, private interest groups and shrewd third party advertisers.
In a surveillance state such as the one we now find ourselves residing in, it is of paramount importance that we find solutions to our total lack of privacy. VPNs ensure that we maintain anonymity in our personal affairs. Whenever you use a VPN, you block people from attacking your computer and other devices. It is the best way to avoid malware, ransomware and data theft.
Are VPNs Safe To Use?
Definitely. VPNs are designed to be safe, secure and 100% private…at least the good ones are. If you purchase a plan from reputable VPNs, you will be able to safely explore the Internet without any fear of having your personal information compromised.
Can I Use a VPN on my Phone or Tablet?
Absolutely. Most VPNs are compatible with a range of electronic devices, whether it’s an iPad or an iPhone.
Best VPNs for Android
The current version of ExpressVPN is able to be downloaded and set up on an Android. It’s a log-free proxy service that allows Android users to browse the Web securely and anonymously with the tap of a few keys.
VyPrVPN is one of the fastest VPNs for Mac. It’s super-fast and is a great choice for online gaming and video streaming.
VPNS for NetFlix
VyPrVPN and ExpressVPN both unblock the Netflix proxy block outside of the US. With these services, you will get Netflix’s American catalog in addition every other country’s Netflix catalog.
I think you’ll agree that there are plenty of good reasons for using a VPN. It is my hope that I have unlocked a new world for those who are visiting my site. It’s a world where prying eyes are unable to see what you don’t want them to see, a world where the Internet is still a free playground for one and all. Thanks for reading and safe surfing, friends. : )
